Our Chiropractic Techniques

We use a number of highly-effective adjusting approaches to help improve spinal biomechanics and reduce nervous system interference.  The approach we use is based on our clinical judgement and years of experience.   We use various systems of  analysis and then add layers of other techniques (as below) to suit each individual case.  Whilst many respond well to the gentler, more subtle techniques, some respond better to those more physical.  We tailor our approach to you.

Chiropractic Techniques

In this video Dr Heidi Haavik has a look at the techniques chiropractors use together with some research about them.

Think of an adjustment as “tuning” a piano, adjusting each string so it produces the perfect tone.

Craniopathy

Craniopathy is a specialist field in Chiropractic which deals with the micro motion of the cranial vault (skull), its distortions and ultimately the effect it has on normal cerebro-spinal fluid flow and the nervous system. Some osteopaths also work in this area and call their technique ‘cranial osteopathy’. The science has been developed through study, research and clinical application over the last 70 years by Dr. M.B. DeJarnette (founder and developer of SOT) and later Mark Pick (SOT chiropractor).

TMJ techniques

Disorders of the temporo-mandibular joint (TMJ) and the muscles that move it can be responsible or contribute to an array of symptoms ranging from facial pain, tingling, clicking, headaches, tinnitus and dizziness.  Gentle cranial and specific TMJ techniques can in many cases help manage these conditions (we have testimonials for these cases available on request).

If you’ve been to a chiropractor before and prefer to be adjusted in a particular way, please let us know.  We want you to relax, enjoy and fully benefit from your chiropractic care.
